SKINSTORM course: why six sessions get the best results

TL;DR

A SKINSTORM course of six is recommended if you're targeting a specific concern, such as pigmentation, fine lines, acne scarring or congestion, because each session builds on the last. A course costs £950, compared with £175 for a single session. Many clients follow their course with microneedling or peels once results have settled.

A SKINSTORM course is the best way to get lasting results from this six-step facial. A single session gives a lovely glow and is perfect before an event, but deeper concerns improve gradually, with each treatment building on the progress of the one before.

This guide explains why a course of six works, what happens across the course, what results to expect, how much it costs and what to do afterwards. Gina has over 10 years' experience in the beauty industry and specialises in skincare, so this is the same advice we give SKINSTORM clients in our Sutton Coldfield salon.

Why choose a SKINSTORM course?

A SKINSTORM course is recommended when you're targeting a specific skin concern, because the results build with every session. Each treatment combines cleansing, resurfacing, an oxygen ice peel, oxygen needling, a needle-free booster and light therapy, and repeating that over a course gives your skin time to renew, rebuild collagen and respond.

A single session is still a great choice for a one-off refresh, for example before a wedding or party. But if you want to change something about your skin, rather than just give it a boost, a course of six is where you'll see the biggest difference.

What concerns does a SKINSTORM course treat?

A SKINSTORM course can help with a wide range of concerns, which is why it's often the first treatment we recommend. It's especially good if you have more than one concern at the same time.

  • Dull, congested or dehydrated skin.
  • Pigmentation and dark marks.
  • Lines and wrinkles, including nose-to-mouth and lipstick lines.
  • Acne scars, stretch marks and scarring.
  • Ageing, sun-damaged or tired skin.
  • Visible pores and lax skin on the neck.

What happens across a course of six?

Every session follows the same six steps, tailored to your skin on the day. Early sessions often focus on clearing, hydrating and brightening, and as the course goes on, improvements in tone, texture and firmness build. Most clients find each session relaxing, with cooling oxygen steps balancing the warmth of the light therapy.

We'll plan the spacing of your sessions with you at your consultation, so your skin has time to respond between treatments. You can read more about each step on our SKINSTORM facial page.

Gina's tip: Take a photo before your first session and after every second one, in the same light. A course works gradually, and comparing photos is the best way to see how far your skin has come.

What results can you expect from a SKINSTORM course?

Most clients notice brighter, more hydrated skin from the first session. Over a SKINSTORM course, concerns such as pigmentation, fine lines and congestion improve gradually, and skin tends to look clearer, smoother and more even. Results vary with your skin and concern, and we'll be honest about what's realistic for you.

The oxygen needling step in SKINSTORM works on a similar principle to microneedling, which a 2024 clinical review supports for scarring and skin rejuvenation.

How much does a SKINSTORM course cost?

A SKINSTORM course of six costs £950 at Gina Rose Beauty, compared with £175 for a single session. That works out cheaper than booking six sessions individually, and it gives you a clear plan from the start. Ask about course pricing when you book.

What should you do after your course?

Look after your results with daily SPF 30 or higher, a gentle routine and good hydration. After each session, avoid direct sun and wear SPF for at least 48 hours, skip retinol and strong acids for a few days, and avoid saunas, steam rooms and very hot showers for 24 hours. The NHS sun safety advice is a useful guide to choosing a daily SPF.

Many clients move on to standalone microneedling or chemical peels once their SKINSTORM results have settled, to target a specific concern further. Our guide to SKINSTORM vs microneedling explains how the two work together.

Who should check with us first

Tell us before booking if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, have active cold sores or skin infections, have recently used isotretinoin (Roaccutane), or have a skin condition such as rosacea, eczema or melasma. The NHS also has useful advice on what to check before any cosmetic procedure.
